This section lists issues - problems on the street network and related matters.
Issues always relate to some geographical location, whether very local or perhaps city-wide.

Lots of interesting stuff about inclusive transport regarding trains, buses, cars, public realm, streets and yes a bit about cycling too. Quotes:
Shared Space:
8.11 While we consider CIHT and DPTAC’s recommendations and how to take them
forward, we are requesting that local authorities pause any shared space schemes
incorporating a level surface they are considering, and which are at the design stage.
We are also temporarily suspending Local Transport Note 1/11. This pause will allow
us to carry out research and produce updated guidance.
Objectives regarding Cycling:
• Update Local Transport Note 2/08, which sets out the Department’s guidance to
local authorities on designing safe and inclusive infrastructure for cyclists, to take
account of developments in cycling infrastructure since its publication in 2008 and
the responses to the draft AAP consultation and publish a revised version by early
2019;
• By 2020, explore the feasibility of amending legislation to recognise the use of
cycles as a mobility aid71 in order to increase the number of disabled people
cycling.

"What am I supposed to do here?" is the frequent response by cyclists when they encounter this example of how NOT to design a piece of cycle infrastructure.
It confuses and is of little help to the cyclist.
When coming on carriageway from Colne Rd and turning into Firth St it is best avoided altogether.
When coming down Queen St South and turning into Firth St it is also best avoided (dangerous not to).
When coming down Queen St South and wanting to access the footbridge over the Colne river there is some merit in manoeuvring oneself into the tight little island BUT:
1. It could be designed so much better. AND
2.The pavement route and the zebra crossing which follow, all need to be sorted out so that EVERYONE - cyclists, pedestrians, motorists all know exactly what they are supposed to be doing and all parties can use their respective routes simply and safely. The pavement route is not good enough at the moment. It probably needs a protected contra flow route using some go the existing carriageway. (Photos will be added in the next week or so)

Markings on road leave cyclists turning right into Centenary Way in a position which oncoming right turning traffic will also occupy. Needs more clarity.
Busy and complex nature of junction means traffic often pulls out aggressively.

A rat run was restricted to traffic by being blocked with kerb islands created which go across the entire road width. At one point where Pyenot Hall Lane meets Manor Park Way a set of plastic wands, lockable, are used to stop traffic which allow for bikes to go through.
Across the main block cycling is not possible due to the height of the kerb used.
It is possible to go round the island on one side but this is not a shared access pavement and the dropped kerb is meant for pushchairs.
The road is not signed for cycle use and although this would make a good access point for the Greenway that too is not highlighted.
Raised as an issue in planning - when reducing the rat run KMBC should have considered allowing cyclists through with clear consent.

The shared access path on Colne road, on its north side, creates conflict between cycles and vehicles. The provision seems worse than using the road. The presence of commercial premises on both sides of this road make the use of a shared access path highly problematic.

Where the cyclepath merges onto the road outside the Mercedes garage going to Huddersfield . The white lining disappears and the kerbs rises out of the ground causing a hazard.
I recently came off at speed here causing injury and damage .
